Product Line Extension overview:
The Pinterest Designer feature gives anyone the opportunity to implement a desired aesthetic into their day-to-day life with the help of a qualified creative eye. Using a monthly subscription service, Pinterest employs feng-shui experts to work directly with clients to get a feel for the sought-after vibe, then they find, and order the necessary materials to achieve the desired look.
There is incredible talent that is being underutilized because there hasn’t yet been a space for creatives to put their natural skills and abilities into effect. A qualified Pinterest Design Consultant is a Pinterest employee, that must pass the aptitude certification process—to ensure genuine skill, and they must commit to extensive training on professionalism—to provide clients with an incredible experience.
How it works:
1. Download or update the Pinterest app
2. Click the ‘Pinterest Designer’ feature
3. Select which area of expertise you’d like to explore
4. Select your time range allotted for completion of the service
5. Browse through the available design consultant’s portfolios during the desired time range needed
6. Select a designer
7. Coordinate a method a communication using our in-app message feature
8. Approve the designer’s alteration board proposals composed of a few pins that represent the look
9. Once a board proposal has been approved, the designer will then put together a final board
10. The board is approved by the client, and items will be selected, ordered, and delivered to the resident’s address

Target Consumer Research
We conducted individual interviews with 8 participants who represented out target market being males and female within the ages of 18-29. They respondents are representative of the users who partake in activity where a Pinterest Design Consultant would be utilized not the current users of Pinterest. We chose to survey those who do, and do not currently use Pinterest because it was best to gain understanding for the target market not yet reached by the current Pinterest offerings.
After this initial outreach we surveyed 36 individuals to test the new service concept and gain insight on their concerns, excitements, and other considerations.
